Typesetting

We pride ourselves on well-crafted text and layout. Classic to contemporary, trade fiction to poetry, academic texbooks to graphic novels; we’ve produced titles across the board.
No matter how complex or challenging a project, we produce it accurately, within budget and on time.
We use Adobe InDesign on the Mac OS platform. Each job is fully pre-flighted prior to print and we are fully compliant with the technical requirements of all major international print companies and groups.
Book Design
Classic or contemporary bespoke design.
If your deadline is short, if you don’t have a definite idea of how your publication should look, or if an in-house designer isn’t available, we’d love to design your book interior for you.
We’re experienced in designing everything from trade fiction titles to complex non-fiction and full-colour coffee-table art books.
Your design can be based on one of our classic or contemporary templates, one of your existing publications or a completely new, bespoke design from your brief.
If you have an out-of-print edition that needs updating and reprinting, we can also seamlessly match an existing copy to produce a facsimile edition.
Digital
eBook and ePub
We can either go straight to ePub from your digital manuscript or convert a pre-existing job from the InDesign files of your finalised book.
We can convert from hard-copy, scanned text or PDF.
We also produce web-ready PDF ebooks, fully hyperlinked and bookmarked.
Other Services
Artworking & reprographics
It’s not unusual for old photographic images to need a touch-up. Similarly, technical illustrations composed in basic applications often need reworked. Using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom we’ll ensure that technical artwork looks professional and photographic images are both improved and pre-flighted correctly for the printing process.
Keying & file conversion
We are experienced in handling hard-copy manuscripts and can advise on options and costs for scanning and keying the text. When manuscripts require conversion from PDF, scanned text or alternative applications (e.g. Quark, 3B2, Telos, PageMaker) we can quote for handling this in-house or sending to a trusted supplier.
Protecting your data
We’ve made sure that our clients’ data is protected from calamity and catastrophe. With both an encrypted mirrored on-site backup and an off-site data vault you can be certain that your jobs are protected should the worst happen.
Protecting the environment
We’re vigilant about energy efficiency and reducing our demands on the planet’s resources. All the paper we use at Biblichor is either recycled or FSC regulated. We also make hard-copies of only what is necessary to do our work, coming very close to being a paperless office.
We have also recently moved to more modern, energy-efficient local offices which also allow us to commute by bicycle.
